Frequently
Asked Questions
About Accelerated Learning
Q: Exactly
what is "Accelerated Learning?"
A:
Accelerated Learning recognizes that each of us has an individual
preferred way of learning that suits us best. When you learn
the techniques that exactly match your personal learning style,
you will be learning in the way that is most natural for you.
Because it is natural, it is easier; because it is easier,
it is faster.
Q:
How was it developed-and by whom?
A:
Accelerated Learning draws on the work of diverse experts
in the field of education and psychology-from Bulgarian Georgi
Lozanov who pioneered the use of Baroque music to Howard Gardner
of Harvard whose Theory of Multiple Intelligences has become
an integral part of our program.
Q:
Specifically what does it incorporate?
A:
Games and activities. Emotion and music. Relaxation,
visualization,role-play, color and learning maps. It all makes
for a joyful, stress-free learning environment.
Q:
I've seen Accelerated Learning promoted
in various publications. Are these programs all the same?
A:
Some programs have been advertised as "Accelerated Learning"
but, frankly, do not incorporate all of the strategies that
we feel are necessary. Other extremely reputable individual
trainers and companies do deliver Accelerated Learning in
its truest sense. Our programs were largely developed by Colin
Rose of the United Kingdom whose original book "Accelerated
Learning" was first published more than a decade ago.
The current definitive work describing Accelerated Learning
is "Accelerated Learning for the 21st Century" co-authored
by Colin and Malcolm J. Nicholl, the principal of this website
and President of the Accelerated Learning Network of Aurora,
Colorado.
Q: Who can
benefit the most from Accelerated Learning?
A:
Everyone! We believe in lifelong learning-making learning
a joyful journey of discovery. It begins from the moment of
birth and lasts throughout life. That's why we have developed
products and programs for parents of newborns, preschool learners,
high school, college students, adults-learners of all ages.
There are Accelerated Learning products and programs for teachers,
corporate trainers; for use at home, in the school and at
the workplace.
Q:
Is there one subject in which Accelerated
Learning excels above all else?
A:
Accelerated
Learning is basically a "learn how to learn" program.
We have applied its techniques to specific projects including
customer service for corporations, and the art of negotiating,
as well as strategies for effective teaching in the classroom.
But one area in which results have been measured again and
again is learning a foreign language. Schoolchildren and corporate
executives alike have all been amazed at the speed and effectiveness
at which they have been able to learn Spanish, French, Italian
or German by themselves at home or through Team Language
Learning courses.
